Pömpeli is a multisensory space, where user experiences are built by authenticity, aestheticism, memorable sensations arousing pleasant & exciting co-experiences. In the multisensory space at Helsinki-Vantaa airport´s Asia terminal, Finland’s tourism attractions are being presented in a new way, appealing to all user senses. The space is primarily aimed at Asian transit-passengers.

Pömpeli is a service innovation developed by and at Laurea University of Applied Sciences. At Laurea both students and lecturers have been involved and engaged in the project representing different fields of study: information management, tourism and business management.

As the very heart of Pömpeli there is a touch screen suitable for public conditions. A computer is integrated to the touch screen and to other devices such as a scent generator, a wind-machine, an usb hard disk, an audio device and a control card for lighting. The usb hard drive, scent generator and control cards are controlled by usb. The audio device is inserted to the computer by an external sound card.
